I did love the different viewpoints of each character in And the Mountains Echoed. I felt the pain and passion of each person's perspective and tale. Hosseini had me rereading Chapter One twice before I could read the rest of the book.

I think And the Mountains Some of the stories were interesting but I feel that he rarely got to the heart of the matter and left me wanting t know more about several characters' motivations and actions. I am glad that I'm not the only one disappointed with the way the plot kept jumping around.

Regardless of the geography always being newsworthy, no one in the states; even if they served the area, is that savvy to all the locations. Enjoyed the book; just not the complexities. If I'm at a loss, I pull up an area map in the computer. I meant to say "if this was based I'll up-date to now Broward County.
The Kite Runner was a pretty fair book. The negative aspect was when Khalid talked about himself too much, flaunting his place in the world as a "writer". It wasn't so much braggadocio as it was self-ingratiation and self presentation. I loved this book, although the ending seemed slower in capturing my attention. But Khalid is a great author. You will love it, but the characters and locations got me a bit confused. Which doesn't read article the enjoyment of the story away. As far as I'm concerned, Husseini is a wonderful storyteller. Read all of his books. I feel he is a superb storyteller. No too many around. This interview is brilliant! Compulsively read "Mountains" three-quarters of the way through and then became confused to the end. Could not keep track of the characters and their relationships as time progressed. Yes, the story about the greek doctor could have been a completely different book!
